Dr. Deborah Brace
Dr. Deborah Brace has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at SHN.
Following her Family Medicine Residency at University of Toronto, Dr. Brace also completed her Residency in Emergency Medicine at University of British Columbia.
She has experience as a staff Emergency Medicine physician at Surrey Memorial Hospital and as a Researcher at Harvard University, Department of Global Health and Social Medicine.
Dr. Brace received the 2020 Dr. Rob Whyte Leadership Award, and she has been involved in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Christopher Dainton
Dr. Christopher Dainton has joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at SHN.
Dr. Christopher Dainton completed Medical School and Family Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto, and fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University. He has been a staff emergency physician in Kitchener, Ontario for the past ten years. He has published extensively on global health and ethics of short-term medical missions, and in 2018, received the Team Williams award for innovation in family medicine.
Dr. Laura Budd
Dr. Laura Budd has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Respirology at SHN and will be primarily based out of the General campus.
Following her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Budd completed a fellowship in Respirology also at the University of Toronto. She has published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Budd accepts referrals for general respirology patients.

Dr. Eunice Cho
Dr. Eunice Cho has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Respirology at SHN and will be primarily based out of the General campus.
Following her Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Cho completed a fellowship in Respirology also at the University of Toronto. Prior to her medical training, she studied bioengineering at Cornell University and worked in biomedical engineering before pursuing medicine. Dr. Cho has research interests in airways diseases and has published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Cho accepts referrals for general respirology patients.

Dr. Nirosshan Thiruchelvam
Respirology Physician Dr. Nirosshan Thiruchelvam joins SHN with a medical degree from the University of Sri Lanka and dual specialties in Internal Medicine and Respirology and Critical Care Medicine earned at the Cleveland Clinic, OH, USA. He specializes in Lung cancer and Interstitial lung disease and has a passion for medical education. Dr. Thiruchelvam holds additional certification in health simulation education from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and excels in point-of-care ultrasound, enhancing our institution’s patient care standards.
Born in Sri Lanka, Dr. Thiruchelvam speaks Tamil, English, and Sinhalese. He is inspired by SHN’s profound impact on our community, aligning his work with our mission and values. Dr. Thiruchelvam sees his role as both a privilege and a responsibility, contributing daily to our mission of accessible, inclusive healthcare. Together, we ensure every breath is a symbol of hope for our patients at SHN.

Dr. Jessica Woolfson
Dr. Jessica Woolfson has joined the Department of Pediatrics at SHN, joining Dr. Carol Durno and Dr. Latifa Yeung as SHN’s third pediatric GI specialist.
Following her Pediatric residency at McMaster Children’s Hospital Dr. Woolfson completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship at British Columbia Children’s Hospital and then did a third year of further clinical and research experience in Advanced Hepatology and Transplant at The Hospital for Sick Children.
Dr. Woolfson worked for 4 years at London Children’s Hospital where she developed an interest and focus on complex feeding and nutrition. There she helped to build more formalized and multidisciplinary feeding programs, including for enteral feeding and aerodigestive diseases. She recently moved back to Toronto and is excited to join the department of pediatrics and existing pediatric GI team at SHN after a maternity leave. Her clinical and academic interests are in complex feeding, over and under nutrition and feeding disorders.
Dr. Woolfson is also committed to a clinical practice in all areas of general GI and hepatology, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. She looks forward to collaborating with allied health and other subspecialities for the management of children with complex medical and behavioural feeding issues within the community. Dr. Woolfson is passionate and has been actively involved in many realms of medical education including curriculum development, mentorship, and teaching. She looks forward to continuing her involvement in these areas as staff at SHN.

Dr. Ai Xin Liu
Dr. Ai Xin Liu has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics at SHN.
Following her Internal Medicine residency training at Queens University, Dr. Liu completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She has published in several peer reviewed journals and has been involved in research initiatives.
Dr. Tina Nham
Dr. Tina Nham has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics at SHN.
Dr. Nham completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Toronto and Geriatric Medicine residency at McMaster University. In 2023, Dr. Nham was awarded the Student’s Choice Resident Teacher Award from the University of Toronto. She has published in several peer reviewed journals and has been involved in research initiatives. Dr. Nham is from Scarborough and is happy to be returning home!
Dr. Asifa Amin
Dr. Asifa Amin has joined the Department of Lab Medicine at SHN and will be primarily based out of the Birchmount campus.
Dr. Amin completed her General Pathology residency at the University of Alberta and prior to this received a diploma in Diagnostic Cytology from The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences. She has experience as a Pathologist at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and as a General Pathologist at Sobhraj Maternity Hospital and SindLab (PVT) Limited in Pakistan. Dr. Amin is also a Clinical Lecturer and a Practical Nursing Instructor.
Dr. Vance Tran
Dr. Vance Tran has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative Care at SHN.
Dr. Tran completed his Family Medicine residency at Queen’s University and received his Master of Science in Palliative Care from the University of Maryland. He has experience as a Palliative Care Physician at Lakeridge Health, Providence Healthcare, and the Ajax-Pickering Community Palliative Care Team.
Dr. Leora Reiter
Dr. Leora Reiter has joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative at SHN.
Following her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Toronto, Dr. Reiter completed a fellowship in Palliative Care Enhanced Skills at Queen’s University. She has experience as a Palliative Care Physician at North York General Hospital and Dorothy Ley Hospice. She also practices as a Long-Term Care Physician at Baycrest Apotex Centre for the Aged.
In 2020, Dr. Reiter received the National Research Award for Family Medicine Residents from the College of Family Physicians of Canada in recognition of excellent research completed during family medicine training. Dr. Reiter has published in several peer reviewed journals and has been involved in research initiatives.
