COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Vaccines that have been approved by Health Canada are a safe and effective tool for protecting you and your families from COVID-19. Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. This can reduce your risk of developing COVID-19 and make your symptoms milder if you do get it.

Stay safe

Continue to follow these recommendations from Toronto Public Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19, even after getting COVID-19 vaccinated:

  • Practice physical distancing (keep 6 feet or 2 metres from others).
  • Keep mask on when in the community.
  • Limit/avoid contact with others outside of your household.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not visit a Vaccine Clinic.

SHN’s required COVID-19 vaccination policy

To ensure we have the safest possible environment at Scarborough Health Network (SHN) to work and deliver care to our community, SHN’s updated COVID-19 Vaccination Policy was launched on September 7, 2021. A key component of the policy and program requires all of our staff, medical staff, volunteers, and students/learners – including those who work from home – to be fully vaccinated (two doses, including 14 days since their second dose), with the exception of those who have an approved medical exemption. This policy is aligned with the Ministry of Health’s Directive #6.

As one of the hardest hit communities during this pandemic, and because of the proven effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine, it is vital that SHN team members are protected by being fully vaccinated, and that we do our very best to protect our vulnerable patients who depend on us to provide a safe environment.
