Congratulations to Scarborough Health Networks (SHN) dialysis vascular access team for their outstanding work in renal care, as recognized by The Ontario Renal Network (ORN).

The ORN awarded SHN for achieving the Vascular Access Surgery Wait Time (Priority 3) indicator for the 2018/19 fiscal year. Meeting a rate of 98.9 per cent, an increase from the 2017/2018 year, places SHN among the top third in provincial performance.

“The centre has been a consistent high performer and continues to provide high quality, patient centred care,” says Dr. Peter Blake, Provincial Medical Director, Ontario Renal Network.

The Ontario Renal Network assesses Regional Renal Programs using both regional and facility-level data to monitor progress towards multiple performance indicators and recognize top performers. These indicators encompass topics such as Home Dialysis Prevalence and Vascular Access surgery wait times along with other high-priority metrics.

“These achievements would not have been possible if it weren’t for the commitment of our surgeons and staff to improve the lives of our patients through exceptional health care,” said Ethel Macatangay, Patient Care Director Nephrology and Chronic Disease. “Their dedication is a true reflection of how SHN is shaping the future of health care in Scarborough.”
