You were bound to notice one common trend throughout your day-to-day interactions in November: an abundance of moustaches. The facial hair that is seen sprouting up is in support of Movember, which aims to change the face of men’s health.

Staff across Scarborough Health Network (SHN)  rocked their (real and fake) mo’s all month long in support of the Movember Foundation, which raises awareness and donations for men’s health projects, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health and suicide prevention, across the globe.

This year, SHN staff also had the option to wear a moustache-print mask in their clinical roles. To bring more awareness to Movember, priMED Medical Products launched the moustache-print mask in 2018, encouraging medical professionals across the country to substitute their usual protective mask.

“The masks bring smiles to the faces of clinicians and patients alike, and give priMED staff the opportunity to have some fun in support of an important cause.”

The mo’ mentum is certainly growing with 25 hospitals participating. Throughout November, a portion of all proceeds from this initiative will be donated to the Movember Foundation.

Started in 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Over the last 16 years the Movember foundation has raised $1.02 billion for men’s health.
