Who we engaged
An essential part of the planning process has been engaging our many hospital and community stakeholders to hear what you want in your hospital.

What we heard
Be vibrant and dynamic
Be vibrant and dynamic
There was unanimous support for taking a bold approach to planning. Our hospital needs to be ‘forward thinking’ with a willingness and ability to adapt.
Improved and expanded focus
Improved and expanded focus
There is an opportunity for our hospital to focus on our known speciality areas (i.e. cardiac, nephrology, paediatrics), as well as play a greater role in supporting improved community health.
Commitment to patients and families
Commitment to patients and families
Patient care should achieve standards of excellence, going above and beyond basic requirements of quality and safety. Just as important, we need to provide a positive care experience, being thoughtful and kind.
Playing a pivotal role in the community
Playing a pivotal role in the community
We need to continue working closely with the community, and consider our involvement in preventative health and in addressing population health needs. Our planning should also align with provincial priorities, including how services are delivered across different points of care.
Leading by example
Leading by example
Our hospital’s leadership should be visible to the community, and compassion should be felt across all areas and levels of our hospital.
Commitment to team
Commitment to team
Coordination, shared culture and common identity across our three sites can empower us as a unified hospital. Professional staff appreciate and depend upon each other’s and the broader organization’s support.
Our planning process
Our planning process included: 1) developing a new five-year strategic plan, 2) coming up with a new hospital name and identity, and 3) building a long-term master plan for hospital facilities. We have engaged with stakeholders across our hospital and community.
