Next Board meeting: October 3 at Birchmount hospital

Scarborough Health Network’s (SHN) Board of Directors is welcoming five esteemed executives to round out its transformative team of leading minds.

As the Network approaches the first anniversary of its new name, logo, and brand this fall, the 2019-2020 Board of Directors is set to propel SHN toward our vision of becoming Canada’s leading community teaching health network – transforming your health experience.

“In shaping the future of care, we are attracting the best professionals – from our frontline staff and physicians to our Board of Directors – as we develop an environment of learning and innovation,” said Maureen Adamson, Board Chair.

“I’m delighted to officially welcome Michele Goddard, Gabriel Granatstein, Gale Rubenstein, Vince Timpano, and Ruth Woods to our Board. The skills and expertise of these individuals, combined with those of our veteran team, will be invaluable as SHN boldly embarks on Transforming Care and advances our Strategic Plan (2018-2023).”

Introducing the newest members of SHN’s Board of Directors:

Michele Goddard
Over the course of her career as a financial services executive at BMO Financial Group, Michele led significant transformational changes and successfully designed and implemented technology change programs within highly complex, regulatory environments. Michele is a Patient Advisor for Bridgepoint Active Healthcare, and was the Chair of the Board for Women in Capital Markets and a member of the Canadian Depository for Securities Board. Gabriel Granatstein
Gabriel is the CEO of Canada Tire; a veteran and reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces; and serves on the Board of the Royal Canadian Military Institute. Prior to Canada Tire, Gabriel was an Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright law firm, where he represented Canada Post and Target Canada’s Employee and Labour Relations Senior Counsel. Fluent in English and French, Gabriel is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Barreau du Quebec. Read more

 

 

 

 

 


Gale Rubenstein
A Partner at Goodmans LLP, Gail is repeatedly recognized as one of Canada’s top lawyers. She counselled the Province of Ontario with respect to Algoma Steel, Stelco Inc., General Motors and Chrysler; Purdy Crawford in restructuring of Canadian Third Party Asset Backed Commercial Paper during the financial crisis; and the Monitors of Nortel Networks and Target Canada. As a Hydro One Board member, Gale chaired the Regulatory & Public Policy, First Nations, Corporate Governance, and Human Resources committees, and was a member of Audit & Finance, Strategy, and Health, Safety & Environment committees. Vince Timpano
Vince was President, Global Coalitions at Aimia, where he was accountable for Aeroplan, its largest division globally, and three UK-based programs. Previously, he was President of Coca-Cola Canada and President & CEO of The Minute Maid Company Canada. Vince is Governor and Member, Finance & Administration Committee for Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. In his 13 years as Board Chair of the United Way of Greater Toronto, Vince also chaired the Governance & HR, Finance, Audit & Risk, and Operations & IT committees. Read more

 

 

 

 


Ruth Woods
With more than 30 years’ executive experience in investment banking and professional services management, Ruth is the Chief Operating Officer of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, where she is responsible for Finance, IT, HR, Marketing and Facilities. Prior to Osler, Ruth was a founding partner of Hugessen Consulting Inc; Senior Vice President, Global Head of Human Resources at Scotia Capital; and a Founding Director of Women in Capital Markets, where she still sits on the Advisory Council.
