Last fall, Scarborough Health Network (SHN) was named one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ by Waterstone Human Capital, a leading cultural talent management and retained executive search firm. This distinguished award was officially presented to SHN at the Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures Summit held in April, where we got the chance to celebrate our health network’s dedication to cultivating a work environment in which our people can flourish both personally and professionally.
Now in its 20th year, the Canada’s Most Admired™ Corporate Cultures program honours organizations that have established and maintained cultures that contribute to their competitive advantage and sustained success. This year’s summit, which took place in Toronto, brought together hundreds of delegates to celebrate the pinnacle of corporate culture in Canada. The event included a day of plenaries, keynote presentations, and sessions, followed by the award reception. The prestigious Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ Award recognizes best-in-class workplace cultures and is awarded to only 50 organizations each year.
Accepting the award on behalf of SHN were Board Chair Matt Ainley, President and CEO David Graham, and Executive Vice-President of People and Transformation Michele James, who were also joined at the event by several SHN leaders from across our health network. SHN was part of a group of eight award recipients for the Non-Profit & Broader Public Sector, and was the only hospital to be named among Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ for 2023. Winning this award underscores many facets of our leading culture, including robust structures, policies and initiatives for furthering diversity, equity and inclusion; support for staff mental health through both in-person and virtual wellness resources; innovative education and professional development programs and opportunities; varied staff recognition and appreciation events and activities; and the launch of our bold, new employer brand and recruitment campaign.
